RELATIONSHIPS AND CLIENT INVOLVEMENT
A designer's or decorator's roll in a project should never be to tell a client what to do, but rather read their personality, lifestyle needs, color preferences and other factors that go into making a home livable, warm and inviting. We spend a lot of time getting to know each other, and the balance of my creativity and product resources coupled with the client's original inspiration photos can create some beautiful homes & lifelong friendships. Lynn Dahl, Breckenridge, CO & Leawood, KS
"When we started planning for our Breckenridge home, the thought of choosing all the finishes and furnishing an entire home prior to even walking through it was overwhelming to me. Karen came to my rescue! She was involved in our entire interior design process from start to finish. Her creative ideas couple with her sensitivity to my needs was a perfect partnership leading to our absolute joy with our completed home. Extremely professional, tremendous competence, and high energy beautifully describe Karen Wray. I would highly recommend Karen and her interior decorating services to anyone who want an outstanding appointed home."

"We were so pleased with both the product recommendations and beauty in our first home that we called Karen back when we moved to replace outdated window coverings. She explained the features and benefits of a variety of options open to us. After considering our large windows and great views, we went with Horizons Shades of Elegance. They warmed up the room, protected us from the afternoon glare and heat, and gave us the privacy we needed without obstructing our views."
INSPIRATION
Karen can make the interior finishes and furnishings choices easy by sharing her vast collection of room and home feature photographs collected for over 10 years. Visit our web photos or site visits of homes completed. Karen will work through each set of choices for your home and find the look you are after in a budget that works for you! Clients like Charles & Mary, Silverthorne, CO and Steph & Sam, Dillon, CO and were delighted they never had to step foot into a retail store.
"After a first consultation, Karen seemed to read our minds and brought a limited set of grouped fabrics to our home, in less than 30 minutes we were able to finalize our selection on all our custom upholstery! The end result more than exceeded our expectations."
COMMUNICATION
So many of today's resources are available digitally and on the web that it takes the stress out of turning the project over to a professional. For our out of town clients, we pride ourselves on weekly e-mail photo updates as well as web links, text images and other forms of communication to keep the project moving ahead on schedule. Not only is this a "green" way of doing business with less paper catalogs, it allows clients to share the progress with friends and family.
Matt & Lisa, Breckenridge, CO & Weston, CT
"We started with an empty shell with no idea how to start. We needed everything from door knobs & chandeliers to beds and sofas. Karen came in like a whirlwind of ideas and transformed our home from a blank pallet to an Alpine Euro Inspired Lodge home in 90 days! She thought of everything down to fully stocking our kitchen and barware. It shows beautifully. We feel the elegant Apres Lodge design helps maximize our rental income. When we had an emergency renovation after water damage, Karen was there for us and got the home repaired and back into the rental program in 10 days...truly remarkable the personal attention and care she gave us when we were across the country and unable to take of the details ourselves."
LIGHTING
LIGHTING: Nothing can date a home like outdated lighting. Today's options add more light with less energy use and we have lots of choices for decorative, taste and mood setting that were not available to us just a few years ago. Lighting a Log or Timber home can be especially challenging due to lack of framed walls for wiring, loft style ceilings with log floor joists, and vaulted ceilings and log trusses that make a log home beautiful. We recommend a comprehensive lighting plan at the start of your project by a licensed lighting designer. We work directly with the skilled Team at Austin Bluffs Lighting. Keep in mind all the lighting needs: ambient, task, decorative. We pass along wholesale pricing from hundreds of manufacturers at www.austinbluffslighting.com
SPACE PLANNING
Space Planning: We can work with you from the beginning to end of your project to assure door swings, and other installed aspects of your project are the most efficient, as well as pre-planning furniture layout to assure that any lighting and electrical needs are met. We will help assure your furniture choices are in the proper scale for the room and traffic flow.
